1. Add it to landscaped areas, gardens, flower beds and around tree bases.
2. Place some on trails, pathways or other walking areas to prevent weeds from becoming overgrown.
3. Use it as livestock bedding – animals love sleeping on soft wood chips.
4. Cover muddy stains on the road so you don't stain your shoes.
Make your mulch and turn your scraps into money!
Be sure to use this shredded or shredded material for the correct purpose. Wood chips bind nitrogen into the soil as they decompose, so they should be spread on top of the soil as mulch rather than mixed into the soil like compost. Chopped leaves and grass should be added to the compost pile for future mixing with the soil.
If you need mulch, making your own is an excellent investment. Organic mulch can be quite expensive (especially if you're covering a large area with it), and it's never a bad thing to have a little extra on hand to patch up washed-out spots.
